Our Mission

$ Retrieving Your Money $

Losing your home to a tax auction can be a very confusing and difficult experience. When a home is sold at auction, sometimes it sells for more money than what was due to creditors and lien holders...a LOT more. This amount is known as an overage.  Many don't know that this overage money is actually due back to the homeowner (or their heirs.) Unfortunately, if this money is not claimed by the state's deadline, the money is forfeited to the government and can never be recovered. â€‹

We're here to help!

Don't worry, we don't get paid until you receive your money. We even absorb all of the upfront court costs and filing fees.

County Line Refunds is dedicated to assisting people who have unfortunately lost their home in a county tax deed auction. We audit government agencies for overage funds belonging to private citizens. When we discover overage funds that are owed, we use a variety of internet research and skip trace methods to locate the rightful owner. We won't know the exact amount owed until we are able to fully take on your case. We work directly with the county to streamline the process, ensuring a seamless retrieval of your funds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please don't hesitate to give us a call to speak with an actual human.

Q: What does your company do?

County Line Refunds specializes in locating and recovering overage or surplus funds that result from a foreclosure sale. We then contact the rightful owner to help them recover those funds and get it back into their pocket.

Q: Where does this money come from?

When a property is sold at auction, sometimes it sells for more than what is owed to creditors and lien holders. The difference is owed back to the homeowner or their heirs. If this money is not claimed within the strict deadlines set by each county or state, then the money is forfeited to the government and cannot be recovered.

Q: How did you find me?

We do deep-dive audits into government agencies. When we discover overage funds, we use various research and skip tracing methods, as well as internet searches, to locate the rightful owner.

Q: How much money am I owed?

Unfortunately, that information is not yet available to us. Once our Limited Power of Attorney and contingency fee agreement are signed, we will be allowed to continue our research on your behalf to determine exactly what you are owed.

Q: Why didn't the county contact me about the money they owe me?

The county holding these funds did all of their due diligence to contact the rightful owner. In many cases, the owner's contact information has changed. The county will keep the funds if they are not claimed by the rightful owner within the allotted time frame. Because they will benefit from you NOT receiving your funds, they make no additional efforts to notify you. If we don't claim your money, the government gets to keep it!

Q: Does County Line Refunds charge a fee to file the claim.

We never charge any upfront fees.  We absorb all the costs associated with filing the claim and recovering the funds.  We only get paid when we successfully recover your money. If we cannot recover the funds, which is uncommon, then it costs you nothing. We get paid from a portion of the funds recovered with you getting the lion’s share.

Q: How long does the whole process take to receive the money?

Each county has different procedures and timelines.  Depending on the county, it can take up to 90 days after the filing.

Q: How do I start the recovery process?

Contact County Line Refunds by phone or email and we will discuss your claim in more detail and send the paperwork out to you to be signed.  Once we receive all the paperwork back, then we will put your claim package together and file it with the proper agency within 48 hours.  We will keep you informed throughout the entire process until the money is in your hands.
